(Manila, Philipines) — The towns of Tubigon and Maribojoc in Bohol province now have clean and safe drinking water due to a joint effort of the Coca-Cola Company and Habitat for Humanity Philippines. The two towns have newly rehabilitated water supply systems, a project which began in February 2014.

In Tubigon, a redeveloped 105,000-liter water storage tank will be able to provide clean water to 500 families in the barangays of Panaytayon, Ilijan Norte and Ilijan Sur. Meanwhile, 2,000 families across nine barangays in the town of Maribojoc will benefit from a new multi-filtration water system that outputs 1.2 million liters of clean water per day.

Representing the provincial government of Bohol, Atty. Anthony Damalerio expressed his gratitude to Coca-Cola Philippines and Habitat for “this good example of public-private partnership. This is one way to honor our strong commitment to deliver that basic commodity to our barangays.”

Damalerio said that the province’s demand for clean water will be increasing this year since Bohol will be embarking on massive infrastructure projects. Due to this, he explained, providing barangays access to clean and safe drinking water is a topmost priority. “We must not forget the role of our barangays.”

Coca-Cola Philippines Foundation President, Cecile Alcantara, said that the two projects are the company’s way of giving back to the community the water they’ve consumed for their products. “We call this ‘replenish,’ and we are happy to say that we have given back 40 to 50 percent of the water we’ve consumed back to the communities,” she said.

Alcantara also requested local government officials to educate their constituents to take care of the resource entrusted to them. She emphasized that “[since] water is not an infinite resource, we have to conserve it.”

Habitat for Humanity Philippines Managing Director and CEO, Charlie Ayco, says they took on this project as part of the organization’s goals of ensuring that Filipino families can have more decent and secure lives. “We are known for shelter, but in our housing-quality standards, clean water and sanitation are a vital components of a decent home.”

Both the Coca-Cola Company and Habitat for Humanity Philippines see themselves as partners for development, eyeing more projects together with the local government of Bohol to help rebuild the lives of those who have been affected by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake last October 2013.

“Perhaps the blessing is that the earthquake brought us all together, to work together so that we can [also] rise up together,” Coca-Cola’s Alcantara said.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2733611608472153769.post-24052457291405485762015-06-12T23:38:00.002+08:002015-06-12T23:38:21.379+08:00Aiza Seguerra pays tribute to Maestro Ryan Cayabyab in new album

After four years, Never The Strangers returns to the local record industry with the release of their new album “Screenburn,” their first album with Universal Records.

The release of this album also marks the introduction of its new members. Never The Strangers is now composed of original members vocalist and keyboard player Ace Libre, guitarist JP Del Mundo, and new members bassist Gab Palanca and drummer Nash Ignacio.

Asked how the change in line-up affected the music of the band, Ace considers the different experiences of Gab and Nash contributed to the new sound of the band. He also notes JP’s uncanny ability to play guitars like a “chameleon.”

Ace also notes maturity in the way the band deals with each other, “we seek to serve the song rather than our egos, which I believe is a sign of maturity. We hear one another out, whether it's one reaffirming the opinion of another or opposing it.”

Ace expressed that this open communication has helped make the music better.

“The fans can expect a new sound from the new single,” Ace shares. “The single features the band having a go at electronic sounds.”

Ace also describes the upcoming album as having a “more narrative-based showing dressed in a bigger yet more nuanced sound from screenburn.”

“Screenburn” will be launched this June 19, Friday, 7:00 p.m., at the Eastwood Central Plaza.

“Screenburn” Tracklist:

1. Teen Star and former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Jane Oineza opens the new year with a milestone – the release of her first single “Move On,” a collaboration with Sponge Cola.

“Kinabahan talaga ako, pero tinuruan naman ako ni Yael, so nawala na ang kaba ko,” adds Jane. “It has always been a dream of mine to have a single, and eventually an album of my own.”

She adds that the experience was really “unbelievable.”

According to vocalist Yael of Sponge Cola, “Move On” is a sincere, straightforward song about bunch of friends telling someone to “move on.”

“It all started when Sponge Cola guested on ‘ASAP Chill Out,’” recalls Yael. “During and after our guesting, people were asking for us to sing. People did not stop until I got home, and then, I thought maybe Jane and Sponge Cola should do a song together, and we did.”

Yael adds, “Jane was nervous at first, but eventually, she became more comfortable with it. This girl has ‘it.’”

“Move On” is already available on ITunes, Deezer, Spinnr, Amazon.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2733611608472153769.post-4319527933447895412014-12-21T11:26:00.002+08:002014-12-21T11:26:54.762+08:00Biggest recording stars sing for compassion, volunteerism in Red Cross song
Singer-actress-TV host Karylle received a Gold Record Award for her latest album “K” yesterday, December 4, during the live episode of “It’s Showtime.” PolyEast Records’ Managing Director Jesmon Chua presented the award.

The album includes the hit singles “Sa ‘Yo Na Lang Ako,” “Kiss You,” “Kapiling Kita,” among others.

“K” celebrates a number of firsts for Karylle – joining a contest and collaborating with a cousin-rapper.

“I’ve never ever joined a contest before, but it was worth it because I got to sing a beautiful song – Lara Maigue’s ‘Sa ‘yo Na Lang Ako,’ which everyone loves,” expresses K. “I am also thrilled big time that I got to collaborate with one of my favorite rappers – my cousin Dash Calzado.”

The singer-actress also thanks Kiko Salazar for turning an unfinished “Kiss You” to complete song, and for contributing “Kapiling Kita.”

Karylle adds, “This album is extra special because of a million reasons. It was a reunion with my first two producers Ito Rapadas, who produced ‘Sa’Yo Nalang Ako’ and DJ MOD, who remixed ‘Bad Boys.’”

Karylle also expressed gratitude towards friend and co-host Jhong Hilario for choreographing “Kiss You,” which was performed by her “It’s Showtime” family, including its hosts, staff, Dumbo, XB GenSan and Showtime dancers, for the music video.

The album also fulfilled Karylle’s dream of recording something for the kids as “K” includes her version of “My Own Little Corner,” a song from the musical “Cinderella,” which Karylle topbilled last year for Resorts World Manila.

“I’ve never sold so many CDs in my life!” gushes Karylle. “I am so thankful for all the love and support. Many thanks to everyone who watched our shows with my band Reasons once or twice or even more times!”

Asked what her fans can expect in the future, she shared that she is currently working on a number of new songs with Alvin Cornista, whom Karylle met years ago when she celebrated her birthday with Nyko Maca + Playground. Karylle and Alvin collaborated on previous singles like “OMG,” “Running,” and “Bad Boys.”Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2733611608472153769.post-67601664931467601472014-12-04T11:48:00.003+08:002014-12-04T11:48:24.648+08:00Sam Concepcion scores three record awards in a daySinger-actor Sam Concepcion proved that indeed he is a young hitmaker when he was awarded three record awards during his Birthday production number in ASAP last Sunday, Nov.30.
Currently, Christian is busy taping for the primetime series “Strawberry Lane,” hosting “Marian,” and performing on “Sunday All Stars.”

Next month, Christian will launch his newest album “Soundtrack,” which contains memorable themes from the most romantic films of all time. He will be joined by some of the hottest female recording artists in the album.
After nabbing the Best Rock Group and Best Rock Album awards from the recently-concluded 2014 Star Awards for Music for their hit album “Ultrablessed,” Sponge Cola continues to reach new career milestones.

Recently, Sponge Cola headlined the Google PH’s “Google Mo Lang” campaign http://www.google.com.ph/campaigns/googlemolang/, which aims to promote Google Search. The band was joined by celebrity chef Erwann Heusaff, and social media stars Mickey Bustos and Bogart the Explorer).

The success of the band continues to be acknowledged by different brands, as they recently nabbed an endorsement deal with Unisilver Time.

The band’s current album “Ultrablessed” has already spawned numerous hits like “Anting-Anting,” a collaboration with Gloc-9, “Singapore Sling (Dahil Kilala Na Kita),” Yael Yuzon and Karylle’s wedding song, and its current single “+63,” which featured Yeng Constantino and topped three MYX Music Charts (Daily Top 10, Pinoy MYX Countdown and Myx Hit Charts) for almost a month.

Another song from the album will be out in a matter of weeks.

An exciting collaboration between the band and rap duo QYork has also been released.

The band’s earlier hit “Bitiw” is also having second wind as “Pedro Penduko” is being re-aired on ABS-CBN. “Bitiw” was the fantasy series’ theme song.

In appreciation of the support of Sponge Cola fans, the band has also launched new shirts, which are available during gigs and online via towerofdoom.net.

Anyone who has watched Gloc-9 at a live gig would know that one of the most well-received songs that get audiences on their feet is one of his oldest, telling us all to move our bodies and dance, to lighten the load of life.

On his 17th year in the music business, and after seven full length all-original albums, Gloc-9 goes back to some dance rap, bringing with him Vinci Montaner of Parokya Ni Edgar. Montaner has taken a breather from band life, but said yes to “Businessman,” a dance tune that speaks of an uncanny love between a rich girl and a poor boy, and how this difference is bound by nation that allows this disparity.

The rest of the song speaks of the unbelievable breadth of the girl’s wealth, with rooms full of money that isn’t counted and wallets are only for one thousand bills, where cars are a plenty and food is laid out on the dining table like there’s always a party. The girl is does not question how this money is earned, and where it comes from – her father is in a business that earns them billions.

In that world where everything’s served her on a silver platter, this girl wishes for what she has not experienced: to ride public transport and get her hands on some change, to try doing the laundry. The boy is enamored with her, surprised at the everyday things the girl wants to experience, where the things that are new to her is a way of life for him.

Yet “Businessman” is no easy love song, as it is one that’s layered with such a huge disparity between the rich girl and poor boy, that one can only wonder: what business is the girl’s father in, that allows him such wealth?

“Businessman” featuring Vinci Montaner will be launched on MYX on October 17 2014, Friday at 6:00PM. The music video features Winwyn Marquez. “Businessman” is part of Gloc-9’s DVD release “Biyahe ng Pangarap” to premier in November.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2733611608472153769.post-17497684614520170502014-09-30T10:32:00.001+08:002014-09-30T10:32:18.245+08:00Richard Poon sings hits of Burt Bacharach in new album

She also makes sure that she performs onstage every now and then, Just last weekend, Karylle was one of the performers of the 45th anniversary show of the Cultural Center of the Phillippines “Musikal,” a historic coming together of more than 200 local theater performers in the country. In celebration of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ 45th anniversary, around 200 theater actors performed for what may be called the “biggest gathering of theater superstars” in history – “Musikal,” held last Friday (September 5) and Saturday (September 6) at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The celebration was led by theater superstars Isay Alvarez and Robert Sena, Sheila Francisco, Dulce, and Karylle, who did not take her spot in the front line during the All-Star Finale.

Karylle’s gesture was lauded by some people who noted her humility.

A guest, who refused to be named, said, “Karylle obviously had a spot in the first row, but she was humble enough to stick to her place beside theater heavyweights like Isay, Robert, Dulce, and Sheila. Aside from her excellent performance that night, her humility and character shone during ‘Musikal.’”

Karylle performed lead roles in stage musicals like “The Little Mermaid,” “West Side Story,” and “Cinderella,” and reprised her Sita role from last year’s successful staging of Ballet Philippines’ “Rama Hari.”

“Musikal” opened with the overture by The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra with Gerard Salonga.

The revue started with musicals, which tackled old Philippines – “Walang Sugat,” represented by the comic spot “Makikiliti Kang Totoo,” performed by international musical star Sheila Francisco and Red Nuestro. It was followed by chosen numbers from “Ang Kababaihan Ng Malolos” and “San Andres B.”

The Ryan Cayabyab Singers performed a medley of songs from the musical “Lorenzo,” which elicited loud applause from the audience.

Former Sugarfree vocalist Ebe Dancel’s vocals soared in the “Rock Supremo” spot. He was accompanied by Ballet Philippines’ stars Carissa Adea, Kathrina Trofeo, and Richardson Yadao.

Children musicals came next. The segment opened with “Sandosenang Sapatos,” followed by last year’s multi-awarded “Bluebird of Happiness,” and “Batang Rizal.”

The “vaudeville” musicals were presented next with Roeder’s sexy, comic number “Titina” and the showstopping “Aba Ba Boogie,” from the 1980’s hit musical Katy with Isay Alvarez, star of last year’s revival.

The first act closed on a high note with a performance of some of the songs from Ryan Cayabyab and Bienvenido Lumbera’s “Noli Me Tangere” by the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers and the “Munting Pangarap” number of perhaps the most successful musical in recent years “Rak of Aegis.”

The second act opened with Myke Salomon’s performance of “Magsimula Ka.” Followed by spots from Ateneo’s “Sinta,” “Toilet the Musical,” and Ed Gatchalian’s “Rivalry.”

The cast of “Sa Wakas” performed next with the song “Bawat Daan.”

These numbers mirror the youth’s psyche.

The “Himala” spot was undeniably intense with powerhouse performances from May Bayot, Isay Alvarez, Cynthia Guico. and Dulce.

The mood turned gay when Myke Salomon opened the “Rainbow Segment,” with performances from “gay-themed” musicals like “Caredivas,” “Zsa Zsa Zaturnah,” and “Maxie.”

These fun numbers were followed by a revue of “Rama Hari,” perhaps the most important Filipino musical as it was made by icons of the industry – National Artists Bien Lumbera, Alice Reyes, and Salvador Bernal with the respected Ryan Cayabyab.

“Rama Hari” is based on the love story of Rama and Sita, as presented in the Asian epic “Ramayana.”

OJ Mariano (Rama) opened the suite with “Tagistis ng Ulan.” He was followed by Karylle (Sita), who looked every inch a royalty. She sang the most popular tune from the musical – “Magbalik Ka Na Mahal.” Then, a dance solo was performed by dancers from Ballet Philippines. Robert Sena joined OJ and Karylle for “Awit ng Pagsinta.”

The “Rama Hari” was greeted by thunderous applause.

“Musikal” ended with “Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako,” a song from the musical “Katy.” The said anthemic song has unofficially been the “theme of stage performers.” Dulce, Isay, and Aicelle, stars of last year’s revival, led all the performers in singing the song.

After that magical, emotional number, thunderous applause, and a long standing ovation greeted the more than 200 cast members of “Musikal,” further proving that the local theater industry is experiencing a new “high.”Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2733611608472153769.post-1942275754571616492014-08-19T10:45:00.002+08:002014-08-19T10:45:44.084+08:00Never The Strangers joins Universal Records

After a year-long of absence from the entertainment scene, JM DE GUZMAN is back!

JM de Guzman has gone through some personal matters that drove him away and took a year off from show business. He was last seen on TV in his own teleserye, entitled, “Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto” almost two years ago.

Now, the once considered “Prince Of Drama” is back on track with his latest single, “Have I Told You Lately” (an original by Rod Stewart). This is the third single from his second album, “Tensionado”.

Released under IVORY Music & Video, “Tensionado” is a collection of JM De Guzman’s renditions of his favorite songs featuring “Akin Ka Na Lang” by Itchyworms, “Lost In Space” by Lighthouse Family , “Don’t Give Up On Us” by David Soul and “Tensionado” by Soapdish. In addition, you surely wouldn’t want to let go of JM’s collaboration with Acoustic Diva, Suy, in their version of special track, “Terrified”.

JM De Guzman gets personal and bares it all as he includes two of his original compositions in this album. “Warrior” is an acoustic ballad about searching for one’s self in this endless journey we call love. On the other hand, JM sings about unrequited love in “Stupidest”.

JM De Guzman will soon be doing again “Tensionado” album mall tour. His latest single, “Have I Told You Lately” has began to capture the attention of the radio listeners as it is now included in the playlists of some radio stations.
