A torn ligament in her right knee was the reason why Liberal Party senatorial bet and Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel suddenly fell down while speaking onstage at the party's miting de avance at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.
A statement from Hontiveros's camp said that as of 9:30 p.m., the LP bet was in St. Luke's Medical Center Quezon City, where she was brought after she fell onstage shortly before 8 p.m.
This page requires a higher version browser Hontiveros had been leading the crowd in chanting "Nobody nobody but Mar" when she turned to point to LP vice presidential candidate Senator Manuel "Mar" Roxas II, who was sitting right behind her. Apparently, the abrupt movement twisted her right knee.
"She couldn’t stand and was in deep pain and was rushed out of the stage on a stretcher," the statement read.
"She wishes to convey to her supporters and friends that she is fine. Doctors have assured that there is no cause for alarm and that she needs time to recover," it said.
Celebrity Kris Aquino, sister of LP standard bearer Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, was among those who quickly rushed to Hontiveros' side.
While others attended to the congresswoman, Kris diverted the attention of the crowd by introducing comedienne Pokwang, who then went invited the candidates to join her in a lively dance number of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance."—JV, GMANews.TV

Ready, Summer 2012? Here Comes Batman 3!
Same bat channel, new bat time.
Warner Bros. isn't about to let little details like no title, no production start date and no locked-down plot stop it from setting up a tentpole, as the studio today announced a July 20, 2012, release date for the third installment of the rebooted Batman franchise.
Christian Bale will be back in the cowl under the direction of Christopher Nolan.
With the release date now set, Nolan is currently hashing out a story for the Dark Knight followup, which already faces some steep competition. Also headed to the big screen in 2012: The Avengers (May 4), Battleship (May 25), Star Trek 2 (June 29), and what will likely be the Bat's biggest competition: the Spider-Man reboot's reboot (July 3).
Comic geeks, get ready.

Radcliffe 'to stun Broadway audiences'
Daniel Radcliffe has been busy preparing for his upcoming musical debut on Broadway.
The 20-year-old actor will play the leading role in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying next spring.
Director Rob Ashford is quoted by WENN as saying: "He's singing every day with a vocal coach in London and I've got my assistant putting him through his dance paces every other day. I'm covering all bases with Daniel - and he's delivering."
Meanwhile, actress Rose Hemingway - who plays Radcliffe's love interest - praised the Harry Potter star "He's been doing a lot of work and he's going to surprise people. He's not afraid to learn how to do things."

Box Office: Friday numbers put Freddy Krueger in top spot Box Office: Friday numbers put Freddy Krueger in top spot
Now this is what a weekend box office is supposed to look like. After last weekend’s sluggish performance from newcomers The Losers and The Back-Up Plan, it’s nice to have a new release with some heft to it. Such is the case with Nightmare on Elm Street. The R-rated remake of the popular Freddy Krueger slasher movie from the 1980s is destined for the top spot with what could be a $35+ million weekend. Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Nightmare grossed a solid $15 million on Friday night. That bodes well for horror fans. With an opening this strong, New Line Cinema must be thinking sequel options already.
Furry Vengeance, starring Brendan Fraser, had much more trouble finding an audience Friday night. The other newcomer for the weekend grossed a paltry $1.7 million on Friday for a weekend take that could top out at a little over $6 million. The PG-rated family film is unlikely to make it into the top five for the frame and has done little to steer How to Train Your Dragon off its course. That film landed in second place on Friday. While far beneath the No. 1 grosser with only $2.5 million, the 3-D flick is still likely to add $11 million to its already full coffers.
The battle for third place through fifth place could be a bit of a horse race with Date Night, The Back-Up Plan, and The Losers all jockeying for position. The three movies each grossed somewhere in the $2 million range on Friday night, and how they perform today will be the real determinant. It’s likely that Date Night will beat the other two flicks and should end the frame with something close to $8 million. The Back-Up Plan could gross in the $7 million range, while The Losers will be around $6 million.

GaGa 'most influential artist of 2010'
Lady GaGa has been named the world's most influential artist in Time magazine's Time 100 list of the most influential figures alive today.
The singer clinched the top spot in the list of 25 stars, with Conan O'Brien coming second and Kathryn Bigelow and Oprah Winfrey coming third and fourth.
GaGa's entry featured a tribute from veteran popstar Cyndi Lauper, who described the 'Poker Face' singer's lyrics as "incredibly literary" and "sophisticated".
Lauper wrote: "When I see someone like GaGa, I sit back in admiration... She isn't a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art."
The top ten also featured Robert Pattinson at number six and Taylor Swift at nine. Meanwhile, Glee star Lea Michele was a surprise entry at number 13, above established stars such as Simon Cowell and Sir Elton John.
